Returns
Mon–Sun
Same-day Mon/Fri. Other days after 7:30pm — same night if the store is open, else by 9:00am.
How we run
Store windows live in the catalog. These are ReturnIt’s rules — Mon/Fri same-day, evening dry-goods windows after 7:30pm, groceries only when the store wants the item, and who shows up at your door. Launch coverage: Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert. If your ZIP isn’t in that metro, we won’t take the job.
Returns
Mon–Sun
Same-day Mon/Fri. Other days after 7:30pm — same night if the store is open, else by 9:00am.
Groceries
41°F
Monday and Friday only. Cooler in the car if the store wants the food at the desk. No extra fee.
Replacement home
Not offered
Use the store’s freshness refund. We do not run a 2-hour grocery exchange.
The clock
Walmart, Fry’s, Safeway, and Target already refund a lot of bad produce and dairy from the app — often without the food coming back. FDA Food Code 3-306.14: once it left with you, they generally cannot restock it. USDA’s 2-hour / 1-hour rule is about food sitting out, not about stores taking returns. It only binds us if we are holding TCS food in a car.

Cooler fails / food sits out
2 hours, or 1 hour at 90°F+
USDA. Abort the grocery. Finish the dry-goods return. 4 hours in the danger zone is discard.
What we are
ReturnIt picks up items from your door and takes them back to the retailer on your behalf. The store still decides whether to accept the return. Their window, receipt rules, and condition rules still apply. We are not Walmart, Target, or any other merchant.
When we run
Monday and Friday are same-day: we pick up at your door and drop at the store before close. Tuesday–Thursday and Saturday–Sunday are evening windows — home pickup after 7:30pm. If the store is still open we return that night; if not, we are at the desk by 9:00am the next morning. Groceries only book Monday or Friday.
Our clock
Dry goods can sit overnight after an evening pickup. Food cannot. If we cannot make the window we told you, we do not take the job.
Groceries
A lot of “bad milk / mushy berries” is already a store refund — Walmart’s Fresh Guarantee, Fry’s / Kroger, Safeway, Target. Many of those refunds start in the app and do not need the food at the desk. FDA Food Code 3-306.14: once food has been sold to you, the store generally cannot restock it. They discard it. The government does not require them to take it, and it does not require us to run a 2-hour exchange.
Limits
Some items are a no. We will tell you at booking if we can, and at the door if something does not match.
At your door
During family-and-friends beta, the founder runs every pickup. After beta, independent 1099 contractors run same-day and evening routes. They are not ReturnIt employees. They carry a food handler card before they touch groceries. You will see the runner’s name on the trip before they arrive.
Money
You pay to send a runner. Monthly is $29.99 with unlimited pickups while the plan is active. One-time is $10. Tips are optional. Cancel before dispatch and you are not charged. After dispatch, the pickup fee is earned — the runner is already moving. Loop is only billed if we actually claim that order. Groceries on a ticket are not an extra fee. 50 lbs per trip still applies.
Loop is still a thing
A same-store order you already placed is $4.99 / $2.99 on monthly. That is not a grocery exchange. Groceries on a return ticket stay in the cooler and go to the desk — no add-on.
